Overview

After a wash, the water sitting on your glass and paint is what turns into spots, streaks and dust marks as it dries. This soft silicone water blade sheets it off in seconds — one pass per panel, no streaks, no squeak, and nothing hard ever touches the surface.

The blade is soft, flexible silicone on a rigid-backed hand tool with a ribbed rubber grip. Silicone behaves differently from an old rubber squeegee: it stays supple, hugs the curve of a windscreen or a roof panel, and keeps full edge contact from end to end, so water leaves in a single sheet instead of being pushed into beads that dry as spots.

What it does better

  • One-pass water removal — the flexible blade conforms to flat and curved glass alike and clears the whole width in a single stroke, as the windscreen and rear-window photos show.
  • Safe on paint, not just glass — soft silicone has no hard edge and no grit-trapping fibres, so it glides over bonnets, roofs and doors after washing to strip rinse water before it spots (shown on the paintwork photo). Faster than towelling a whole car, and nothing drags across the clear coat.
  • Streak-free, squeak-free — silicone slides silently and leaves the surface dry rather than smeared, inside and out: dew and condensation on the inside of the windscreen clear in the morning without a demister wait.
  • A grip that works with wet hands — the ribbed rubber handle sits in a closed loop you hold like a handle, not a stick, so the blade stays controlled on vertical glass. Hanging holes at both ends hook it onto any wash-bucket or garage hook.
  • Rinses clean, stores anywhere — nothing to wring out, nothing to go mouldy. Rinse the blade, shake it, and it lives in a door pocket, the boot, or under the seat.

Where it earns its keep

  • Windscreen and rear window — rain, dew and wash water cleared in a few strokes.
  • Paintwork drying — sheet water off flat panels after the final rinse to cut drying time and water spots.
  • Mirrors and side glass — the blade's ends reach mirror corners a cloth rounds over.
  • Interior glass — condensation and the film that builds on the inside of the windscreen wipe away cleanly.
  • Around the house — shower screens, bathroom mirrors and windows get the same one-pass treatment.

Using it

  1. Work on wet glass or paint, straight after washing or rain.
  2. Hold the grip, lay the blade flat at the top of the panel, and pull down in one smooth stroke with light, even pressure.
  3. Overlap each stroke slightly and shake or wipe the blade between passes on a heavily soaked panel.
  4. Rinse the blade under the tap when you finish and hang it by either end hole.

Frequently asked questions

Will the blade scratch my paint or glass?
No. The only part that touches the car is the soft silicone edge — there is no metal, no hard plastic lip and no fibre to trap grit against the surface. It is the tool detailers reach for on freshly washed paint precisely because the edge stays soft and clean.

How is this different from a normal rubber squeegee?
Rubber hardens, curls at the edges and starts to squeak and skip, leaving arcs of water behind. Silicone stays flexible in hot and cold weather, keeps its edge flat against curved glass, and wipes silently. It also rinses completely clean, where a chamois or towel holds grit and goes musty in the boot.

Can I use it inside the car?
Yes — the handle shape is made for it. Morning condensation and the inside windscreen film clear with the same stroke, and the blade reaches down to the base of the windscreen where cloths bunch up.

Does it replace drying the car with a towel?
It does the heavy lifting: one pass removes the bulk of the water from glass and flat panels, so a final microfibre wipe — if you want one at all — takes seconds and the towel stays almost dry. On glass alone, most owners use nothing else.

How do I look after the blade?
Rinse it, shake it dry, hang it up. If the edge ever picks up tar or road film, wash it with car shampoo. Keep the edge itself clean and it keeps wiping streak-free.

Is it big enough for an SUV windscreen?
Yes. The blade spans a full hand-width and clears a windscreen in three to four overlapping strokes, roof-height glass included — the photos show it working the full width of a windscreen and rear window.
