Overview
The DOLPHIN's charge port door sits on the front fender, painted body colour and completely exposed — this sculpted ABS cover turns it into a carbon-style feature and takes the scratches, stone chips and cable knocks so your paint doesn't have to.
The cover is molded to the exact outline of the BYD DOLPHIN (EA1) charge port door and bonds directly over the factory door as a protective shell. Its raised geometric relief — the bold diagonal slash, stepped blocks and fine horizontal grooves — is pressed into the shell itself, so the design catches light and shadow like a factory styling part. Pick carbon fiber style for the woven motorsport look, or glossy black for a clean, stealth finish.
Why DOLPHIN owners fit it
- Paint protection on a high-touch panel — the charge port door is pushed, grabbed and brushed by charging cables every day. The rigid ABS shell absorbs that wear while the original paint underneath stays flawless.
- Sculpted, not flat — most covers are plain plates. This one carries a deep three-dimensional relief across the whole face, so it reads as part of the car's design language rather than an add-on sticker.
- DOLPHIN-specific molding — shaped for the EA1 DOLPHIN's front-fender door, edge to edge, following its rounded-rectangle outline and the small square latch recess. No trimming, no universal plate, no gaps.
- Five-minute, tool-free fitting — automotive adhesive tape is pre-applied around the full inner perimeter. Clean, align, press — done. No drilling, no clips, no modification to the car.
- Charges exactly as before — the shell rides on the outer face of the door only. Press-to-open, charging access, latching and sealing all work exactly as they did on day one.
Design details
- ABS Imitation Carbon: rigid ABS finished in a carbon fiber style weave — the glossy woven texture runs evenly across the panel and through the relief, giving the deep carbon look at a fraction of the cost and weight of a laid-carbon part. It is a carbon-style finish on ABS, stated plainly.
- ABS Glossy Black: the same molded shell in a smooth, high-gloss piano black — the relief shows through as light and shadow instead of pattern, for a subtle blackout effect on any body colour.
- Raised relief design: a diagonal slash divides the face, with three stepped blocks above it and fine horizontal grooves below — all molded into the shell, not printed on.
- Full-perimeter bonding: adhesive tape runs around the entire inner edge (shown in the back-view photo), so the shell sits flush with no lifting corners.
- Latch recess carried through: the small square detail of the original door is reproduced in the molding, keeping the design one-to-one with the car.
Exact fitment
Fitment Guide- Vehicle: BYD DOLPHIN (EA1), also sold as Atto 1 EA1 in its launch markets
- Model years: 2022, 2023 and 2024
- Position: outer face of the factory charge port door, front fender
- Variants: ABS Imitation Carbon (carbon fiber style weave, gloss finish) or ABS Glossy Black (smooth gloss black) — same shell, same fit, your choice of finish
- Quantity: 1 cover — the DOLPHIN has one charge port door, and one cover finishes the job
Fitting it — done in minutes
- Wash and dry the charge port door, then wipe it with an alcohol prep pad. The surface must be clean, dry and free of wax or dressing. Warming the panel and tape gently (a minute in the sun or with a hair dryer) makes the adhesive grip even harder.
- Offer the cover up to the door without removing the tape backing and note how the outline and latch recess line up — the shape keys itself into place.
- Peel the tape backing, align the cover, and press it home. Work around the full perimeter with firm hand pressure for 30–60 seconds.
- Leave the car unwashed for 24 hours while the adhesive reaches full strength. After that, wash and charge exactly as normal.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a replacement charge port door?
No — and that is the point. It is a precision shell that bonds over your existing door. Your original door, hinge, latch and seal all stay in place and keep working exactly as before, with the cover riding on the outer face and taking the wear.
Is the carbon version real carbon fiber?
It is genuine ABS with a carbon fiber style finish — the variant is named Imitation Carbon because that is exactly what it is. You get the deep, even weave look of carbon fiber without the price or the fragility of a laid-carbon panel, and the ABS underneath is tougher against stone chips and knocks.
What is the difference between the two variants?
Finish only. Imitation Carbon has the woven carbon-style texture under gloss; Glossy Black is smooth piano black with the same sculpted relief showing through in light and shadow. The shell, fit and fitting method are identical — choose the look that suits your car.
Does the charge port still open and close normally?
Yes. The cover adds a thin shell to the outside face of the door. Press-to-open, cable access and closing are unchanged, and the fitted photos show the door sitting flush with the fender exactly as standard.
Will it stay on at motorway speed and in a car wash?
Yes. The tape runs around the entire inner perimeter rather than a few small pads, giving a continuous bond across the whole shell. Fit it to a clean, wax-free surface, press the full perimeter home, give it 24 hours before the first wash, and it stays put through motorway driving, rain and routine car washing.
Does it fit the DOLPHIN Mini / DOLPHIN Surf?
This shell is molded for the DOLPHIN (EA1) hatchback's charge port door, model years 2022–2024. The DOLPHIN Surf is the ATTO 1 / Seagull under another name — a different, smaller car with a different door shape — so order by the car you own: DOLPHIN EA1 for this cover.
Can I remove it later?
Yes. Warm the panel gently with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive, lift the shell away slowly, and roll off any tape residue with your thumb or adhesive remover. Because nothing was drilled or modified, the original painted door underneath comes back exactly as it was.
