LHD vs RHD: Why Steering Side Matters for BYD Accessories

LHD and RHD can change more than the steering-wheel position. Driver footwells, pedal areas, dashboard contours, console access and trim geometry may be mirrored or redesigned.

Accessories most affected

  • Driver and passenger floor mats
  • Dashboard and instrument covers
  • Pedal and footrest covers
  • Console side organizers and storage pockets
  • Trim around driver controls
  • Some phone mounts and switch extensions

Accessories that may still differ

Sunshades, screen protectors and trunk products often depend more on glass, screen or body shape, but regional versions can still change sensors, camera housings, screens, trim and cargo floors.

How to check

Look for an explicit LHD or RHD option. If none exists, compare the product image with your exact installation area. Do not assume an image has been mirrored for presentation. Button labels, pedal position and the side of the driver display can help identify the photographed version.

What “fits both” should mean

A product should be described as supporting both only when it is genuinely symmetrical, does not depend on steering-side geometry or has separate verified versions. Missing steering data is not proof of universal fitment.

See our Fitment Guide for the complete checklist.
