EV Charging Cables and Adapters: What to Verify
Never choose a charging cable or adapter by vehicle name alone. Verify the connector on both ends, regional standard, rated current and voltage, phase, intended charging mode and the equipment it will connect to.
Connector and region
Confirm the vehicle inlet and the charger or outlet. Market versions of related vehicles can use different charging standards. A product title that lists several vehicles is not a substitute for connector evidence.
Electrical ratings
Check current, voltage, single-phase or three-phase support and the maximum rated power. The usable charging rate is limited by the vehicle, charging equipment, cable and electrical supply; the highest printed number is not automatically the delivered rate.
Adapters and extensions
Use only accessories intended for the exact charging scenario. Do not combine adapters, extensions or portable equipment in a way the manufacturer or local electrical rules do not permit.
V2L products
Vehicle-to-load accessories require exact vehicle support, connector and output specifications. Confirm the powertrain and market version, and follow the rated load and safety instructions.
